Business Students Place First in Daniels Fund Ethics Initiatives Collegiate Program Case Competition

Undergraduate Ethics Team

On Friday, April 16, four undergraduate students from the University of Northern Colorado’s (UNC) Monfort College of Business earned first place honors at the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative’s ninth annual Collegiate Program Case Competition. This is the fourth time a team from UNC has placed in the event, winning first place in 2016 and 2017 and third place in 2015.

Students who represented UNC in the undergraduate track during the competition were: Jamal Blassingale, Business Administration, emphasis in Marketing; Halaki Gionet, Business Administration, emphasis in Marketing and Finance; Davis Johnson, Business Administration, emphasis in Management, and Theater Arts; and Emmy Scott, Business Administration, emphasis in Management, and Environmental and Sustainability Studies.

Students compete in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition

Six students from the Monfort College of Business didn't let Covid-19 stop their competitive spirit.  They competed in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition (ICBSC) competition via Zoom. Each spring, universities from all over the world participate in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition, which is the world’s most comprehensive business competition that has been running for 56 years. MCB students have been competing for the past three months. Unfortunately with the outbreak of the Coronavirus the final week of the competition was held in a virtual environment.  The team consisted of Kayla Abbott, Joanna Crownover, Heather Limon, Nick Sharp, Samuel Tegethoff, and Nicholas Trujillo.

MCB Dean's Citation for Academic Excellence

Monfort College of Business

Over 200 students earned the Dean's Citation for Academic Excellence in the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado for the 2019 spring semester.

To qualify for the citation, business majors must attain a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the semester.

MCB Students Come in First, Second in Tenth Annual Ethics in Action Video Competition

The NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) has announced the winners of its 2019 Ethics in Action Video Competition, and UNC placed in first and second in three of the four categories:

Viewer's Choice Short Film (1-3 Minutes)
First Place: Ethics in Data Analysis
Short Film Category (1-3 Minutes): 
Runner Up: Management Pressure in the Workplace
Viewer's Choice Commercial (59 Seconds or Less)
Runner Up: Common Conflicts of Interest

This year, the CPT received a total of 94 video submissions from over 20 college and universities, nationwide. 


MCB Students Take Second at Regional Ad Competition

Advertising Campaigns

A University of Northern Colorado advertising class placed second at the District 12 American Advertising Federation’s annual National Student Advertising Competition held at the University of Colorado Boulder on April 27, 2019.  

UNC finished as the runner-up to Brigham Young University while competing against other teams from the CU, Arizona State University, University of Arizona and New Mexico State University.

 MCB Students head to Artificial Intelligence and Education Conference

Weston Seniw, Sierrah Royle, Oliver Bell, Abeje Kene, Matthew Shortle, Jeremy Hansen, Luke Monington and Daniel Herrera.

Eight students from the Monfort College of Business’s AIoT club traveled to San Jose, California to attend an Artificial Intelligence and Education Conference. This conference is the world’s most recognized premium conference on the intersection of AI and Education. The students attended several presentations which challenged the current thought processes around AI, contemplating its implications and potential through the use of algorithms, hardware, and policy.

Students Win at International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition

Four students took first in two categories at the International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition at Loyola Marymount University in California.

The UNC team was advised by Professor and MCB Department Chair of Management Keiko Krahnke, Ph.D., and consisted of senior Drew Buchalski; senior Cora Gottbehuet; senior Mark O’Connor; and sophomore Morgan (Emmy) Scott.

MCB Marketing Students Attend Social Media Marketing World 2019

Four students and their professor recently attended the 3-day Social Media Marketing World mega-conference in San Diego. SMMW is an annual professional conference for marketers and entrepreneurs with top speakers and workshops about using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, blogging, video marketing, and more. More than 7,000 were in attendance.
