Specific details of the Professional Experience requirement:
You’re required to complete a minimum of 50 hours of business work experience within your specific area of study prior to graduation. Each department has specific requirements for each area of emphasis. See "Major-Specific Requirements" on left for more information.
Two pre-requisite workshops must be completed PRIOR to completing your Professional Experience requirement (usually your sophomore year).
Paid experiences are preferred. Your Professional Experience must require skills and knowledge obtained from MCB courses. It can be obtained through employment, volunteer activities or project-based opportunities. Activities should be similar to an entry-level position for a MCB graduate and tied to your career goal and/or major.
The Professional Experience must be completed during the student’s junior or senior year.
Your Professional Experience could include the following roles:
- Employee Training
- Responsibilities and Projects Specific to Major
- Business to Business Sales
Positions that typically will NOT be considered a Professional Experience:
- Bank Teller
- Customer Service Representative
- Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
- Sales Floor Personnel
- General Laborer
