The College of Performing and Visual Arts' fall semester Performing Arts Series begins Thursday, Oct. 1. The series of performances featuring PVA students leads off with the black comedy "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" Oct. 1-3 and 6-10 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 4 and 11 at 2 p.m. in Norton Theatre.
"The Beauty Queen of Leenane" unveils a co-dependent and unstable relationship between two Irish women, Mag and her 40-year-old daughter Maureen. When Maureen takes an interest in Pato, a gentleman caller, mother Mag takes matters into her own hands and sees to it to end the budding relationship. The performance will be directed by UNC professor Mary Schuttler.

Ticket prices are $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens; $11 for students and $8 for UNC student, and
