Students who want to put their creativity to work designing computer software and apps will soon be able to follow their dreams at the University of Northern Colorado, according to Don Gudmundson, dean of the Monfort College of Business. The College of Business and the College of Natural and Health Sciences/Computer Science are participating in an interdisciplinary partnership to offer a Bachelor of Science, Software Engineering degree, beginning in Fall 2013.
“This major is ideal for students who are detail oriented, problem solvers and feel most at home in front of a computer,” Gudmundson said.
Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS) and faculty advisor for Software Engineering Charmayne Cullom said, “It’s exciting that UNC is offering a collaborative joint program that pulls together the strengths of CIS and Computer Science to provide students with a degree that makes them market-ready for the new world of computer software development.”
Students majoring in Software Engineering will be able to choose from any minor offered at the University of Northern Colorado.
