Keiko Krahnke received her B.A. from Doshisha Women's College in Japan, and M.A. and Ph.D. from Colorado State University. She joined the Monfort College of Business faculty in 1999. Keiko brings diverse knowledge and expertise to the classroom and to her research. Her academic background is in language teaching and applied linguistics, counseling, and human resource development. She conducts many workshops on workplace communication, organizational development, and spirituality at work in the northern Colorado area. Keiko has served in leadership positions for the Management, Spirituality and Religion Interest Group in the Academy of Management and serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management. Her research interests include spirituality at work, organizational development, human resources issues, and systems thinking. As a long-time teacher, she believes that her purpose is to help her students to recognize their inner strength, develop a sense of purpose in their lives, open themselves to new knowledge and understanding, and live with compassion towards others. She strives to leave everything she touches better than she found it and to be the change she would like to see in the world. Her favorite quote is 'Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty' by Einstein.
She has been recognized by Who's Who Among America's Teachers and by MCB students as the Professor of the Year (2005). On a personal note, Keiko strives to live compassion in her everyday life. She deeply cares about the well-being of all living things. She is passionate about rescuing abused animals and helping to end suffering. Her children are now grown and independent. She lives in the rural Masonville area with her husband and four greyhounds.
