Karen Forrest Turner, assistant professor in accounting, received her B.S. in Secondary Education and M.A. in English from Texas A&M and her M.S. and Ph.D. in accounting in 1995 from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has taught at Texas A&M University, Baylor University, Valdosta State in Georgia and most recently at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where she was chair of the Department of Accounting, Economics & Finance. She is a licensed CPA in Texas and Colorado. She is currently serving a four-year term on the Colorado Board of Accountancy.

Dr. Turner has been nominated for Who's Who Among American Teachers several times and received the Dean's Builders Award and Research Achievement Award at Valdosta State. Her research interests are in behavioral issues in financial accounting, fraud and accounting communications. She has published research in the Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, The Journal of Academy of Business Education, and The Journal of Lending & Credit Risk Management. Her business experience includes both retail and service, and she has owned and managed both.
