Janice M. Payan is Professor of Marketing in the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado. Her research interests include influence, cooperation, and coordination in Marketing Channels, Business-to-Business Markets, and Supply Chains. Dr. Payan was awarded the University of Northern Colorado A.M. & Jo Winchester Distinguished Scholar Award (2011). She was recently awarded the prestigous Fulbright-Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration Distinguished Chair (2010). She is the recipient of the John A. Howard American Marketing Association Doctoral Dissertation Award (2000), the Monfort College of Business Marketing Professor of the Year Award (2004-2005), the Monfort College of Business Scholar of the Year Award for 2005, 2007 and 2009, and was selected the 2010 Monfort College of Business Teacher of the Year by the Faculty Affairs Committee. She has two publications in the top journal of marketing (Journal of Marketing). In addition she has publications in these top journals in Marketing: Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Channels, Industrial Marketing Management and the Journal of Marketing Education. She has also published several other articles in leading academic publications. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. In addition to her Ph.D., she holds three degrees from the University of Colorado (BS, MPA, and MBA). Prior to beginning her career in academia, she was a marketing executive with a large communications company. She has acted as a consultant to companies in a variety of industries.
