Brian Cathcart

Brian Cathcart is a business executive with 20+ years’ experience building successful ventures. He is respected in the Northern Colorado business community for delivering strong and sustainable financial returns to small business owners as president and founder of The Financial Lab, a small business consulting company. Brian holds an active public accountant Colorado license (CPA).

Brian was an owner and Finance Director of the customer-friendly and widely recognized Runners Roost Fort Collins.  He was an owner and Race Director for the hugely successful Colorado Marathon.  Besides small business ownership experience, he has worked in both private and public accounting as a senior accountant in Financial Reporting and Analysis at Colorado State University, contract accountant for Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies, senior audit staff with Brock & Company, controller of Bula Incorporated, and Business and Advisory staff with Arthur Andersen.  

Brian primarily teaches Managerial and Cost Accounting courses and uses his years of ‘real world’ experience to help bridge the gap between accounting theory and the applied use of it.

Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts in professional accounting and graduated with honors from Fort Lewis College. His Master of Science in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, is from Colorado State University.
