Business Administration Minor
PURPOSE:
The Business Administration minor is designed for students who have a major in another college but wish to pursue a collateral area in Business Administration. Completion of the minor provides broad exposure to the functional areas in Business Administration. These include accounting, computer information systems, finance, management, and marketing. The minor is not open to students who major in Business Administration.

A student must follow the same UNC bulletin for both the major and the minor. Click here to link to Business Administration Minor plan for your catalog year. A student who wishes to add or change to a Business Administration minor must meet the change-of-major requirements established for the Business majors (CCHE index of 103 or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on at least 30 credit hours) and obtain written approval from the Monfort College of Business Advising Center (Kepner 1055, Phone 351-1233).

Students who have completed 30 or more credit hours and have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 may apply for Provisional Admission to Business Administration minor with the MCB Advising Center, Kepner 1055.

The Business Administration minor will range from 34-40 semester hours depending on the student’s selections in the Liberal Arts Core (LAC).

Computer Information Systems Minor
PURPOSE:
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) minor is designed for students who wish to pursue collateral work in the computing, technology and communications/networking areas. Completion of the minor prepares a student to successfully employ technology and integrate information systems into his or her career activities. The CIS minor is attractive to students majoring in other areas of Business Administration as well as to majors from other schools and colleges. It complements their work in these other areas. The program is not designed to prepare individuals to become programmers or systems personnel, but does provide a broad exposure to the area of corporate information systems.

Network and Information Systems Security Minor
PURPOSE:
The Network and Information Systems Security minor is designed for students who are interested in developing a skill set and knowledge base of security issues for computer networks and accounting information systems. The minor provides a background of network infrastructure, protocols, and software. Minors will gain knowledge about industry operating systems, security strategies and relevant products and equipment. Students with this minor will be introduced to accounting concepts and accounting fraud detection.

A student who wishes to add or change to a Network and Information Systems minor must meet the NISS/CIS program change-of-major/minor requirements (CCHE index of 103 or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on at least 30 credit hours) and obtain written approval from the School of Accounting and CIS Director (Kepner 2090, Phone 351-2089).

Students who have completed 30 or more credit hours and have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 may apply for Provisional Admission to Network and Information Systems Security minor in the School of Accounting and CIS, Kepner 2090.

Non-Profit Administration Minor
PURPOSE:
The Non-Profit Administration minor is designed for business majors only who wish to pursue careers in non-profit organizations. Completion of the minor requires a student to understand the similarities and differences between for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, learn about the major sources of funding for non-profits, and complete an internship. The student will further pursue skills that are used in non-profits through the elective minor credits.
